How to Track Your Lost Phone

If you have ever misplaced or lost your phone, you know the feeling of panic you get. It’s the worst thing that can happen; your entire life is in that thing. There are countless reasons why a person can lose their phone. We’ve all been there, whether sitting on the train and getting off at the wrong stop or simply misplacing it.

The panic that ensues when you realize you have no idea where your phone is is like no other feeling. Depending on which phone you’re using and what tracking app you decide to use, you can use these several ways. Let’s discuss a few tips on how to track your phone.

Apple’s Find My iPhone

Apple’s Find My iPhone is a great tool to help you track down your missing device. It can also help you find your friends and family with an iOS device, as long as you have their Apple ID and password. Here’s how it works:

  1. Get the app from the App Store if you don’t have it already.
  1. Open the app and enter your Apple ID and password.
  1. If prompted for two-step authentication, use a trusted device or phone number to proceed.
  1. Tap on the name of the person you want to find in the list of devices below. You’ll see the most recent location on a map (and in text form) and options to play a sound.
  1. Enable Lost Mode, or erase the device. Follow the lead.

Android Device Manager

If you have an Android device, you’re in luck. Android Device Manager is a powerful app that allows you to remotely track your phone’s location. You can even make it ring loudly to find it when it’s close by. If it has been stolen or lost, you can wipe its data clean to keep your information safe.

  1. To use this service, go to https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager on the internet and sign in with your Google account credentials.
  1. Once you’re signed in, a map will appear displaying all of your connected devices to Google Play on their screen.
  1. Select the device whose location you want to know, and you will be able to see its last known location and a list of options for interacting with it.

Here’s what those options mean:

Ring. It will cause the device to ring for five minutes, even on silent mode.

Lock. If a password is not set on the device, this will allow you to select one.

Erase. It will erase all data from the device and return it to factory settings.

mSpy allows users to track any mobile device from an online account remotely. It’s simple: download and install the app and log into the account from any computer or mobile device. You’ll instantly be able to see all of the information on the tracked device.
